Dear Bronteย Officials and all Officials-In-Training
Thank you all so much for nominating for the Waverley Shield on Sundayโ we really appreciate it!ย Weโre gearing up for a great day with full focus on giving the kids a terrific, friendly and fun carnival.
Please find attached the officials allocations.ย This is a slight update to those circulated by Branch.ย ย It is a working document, so if you need changes to be made, please voice these on the day, in area.
Please also find attached the latest timetable.
Some reminders if you are aย qualifiedย official:
- Breakfast for allย officialsย is at Bondi SBLSC from 6.30am.
- 6.45am briefings (7am for U8) for all officials in area.ย This will include some LiveHeats training.
- Please SIGN IN!
- wear your old Branchย officialย shirt or a plain white shirt/top + a hat and your officials badge;
- bring a notepad, pen, refillable water bottle and any snacks you may want; and
- have your log book signed off by your section referee at the end of the Carnival.
Some things to keep in mind if you are aย traineeย official:
- 6.30am: breakfast at Bondi SBLSC.ย At the briefing, you will meet Robyn Carr from Bondi/Branch who is kindly volunteering to be the Officials Mentor.ย She will work out where best to allocate you (if you havenโt yet been assigned anywhere), and after the Carnival, will sign off your โassessment scheduleโ.ย You will need to sign a โsign-onโ sheet at the briefing.ย At every Carnival, these are used to work out if each Club has honoured their volunteer quotas.
- 6.45am: head to your allocated area on the beach.
- Please wear a plain white shirt or top (no โsurf clubโ gear asย officialsย need to be neutral) and a hat for sun protection.ย You will be given a uniform when you officiate at Branch or State which you can use for future carnivals.
- At the end of the Carnival, Robyn will arrange to run through yourย assessment scheduleย up at the Clubhouse and sign it off.ย Please bring a copy of this with you.ย You will need to scan and send a completed copy of this document to Jamie Vueti ย atย xxx@surflifesavingsydney.com.auย in order to finalise your qualification.
- If you did theย officialsย course at home – double check you have completed the โSLS – Technicalย Officialโ modules, accessible via your members area account (seeย hereย for step-by-step).ย All certificates of completion need to be sent to Jamie Vueti at the above address.
- You may wish to peruse the rules of Nipper races if itโs been a while:ย seeย here.
- Look after yourselves!ย Bring plenty of water, snacks and donโt forget a small notepad of paper and a pen in case there is a need to manually record any results / information as you go.
- Finally โย officialsย need to be completely neutral.ย No โBronte/North Bondi/Tama/Bondiโ clothing, no cheering, and no directing / helping the kids in relation to the course or any of the rules.ย The starter will give the kids a briefing on the race, and they are expected to know the rules.ย You may find that this is not as strict at the Waverley Shield, but best to keep it in mind as it is very much the case at Branch and State.
An enormous thank you to everyone, and hereโs to a great Carnival!
Jess
